Day-wise itinerary

Day 1: Delhi to Chopta

Leave Delhi early in the morning and drive via Meerut, Haridwar and Rishikesh, then along the Ganga through Devprayag, Srinagar and Rudraprayag to Ukhimath and Chopta. Stop for breakfast and lunch on the way. You reach Chopta by evening, check in at your camp or hotel and have dinner at the stay. The drive is long, around 10 to 11 hours depending on traffic and road conditions.

Day 2: Tungnath and Chandrashila Trek

After an early breakfast, begin the trek to Tungnath, one of the highest Shiva temples in the world, through rhododendron and oak forest. Continue to Chandrashila summit if the weather allows, for views of Nanda Devi, Trishul, Kedarnath and Chaukhamba. Return to Chopta in the afternoon, relax and have dinner. The trek to Tungnath is about 3.5 km each way, with the summit adding roughly another 1.5 km.

Day 3: Deoria Tal and Sari Village

After breakfast, drive to Sari village, the starting point for the short trek to Deoria Tal, a calm lake with reflections of the Chaukhamba peaks. Enjoy the walk and time by the lake, then return to Sari and drive back to Chopta. Spend the evening at leisure in the meadows. The trail to Deoria Tal is about 2.5 km each way and suits most fitness levels.

Day 4: Chopta to Delhi

Have an early breakfast and check out, then begin the drive back to Delhi via Rudraprayag, Rishikesh and Haridwar, with stops for meals on the way. You reach Delhi in the late evening or at night, depending on traffic, and the tour ends with drop-off at your preferred point.

Important information

Important travel information

The drive from Delhi to Chopta takes around 10 to 11 hours each way, so an early start is recommended on Day 1 and Day 4, and arrival times depend on traffic, weekend rush and road conditions. The Tungnath, Chandrashila and Deoria Tal treks depend on weather, snow and trail conditions, and may be shortened or skipped if they are unsafe. Chopta has heavy snowfall in winter, usually from December to February, and trails can close, so check conditions before travelling. Road access between Rishikesh and Chopta, and the road to Sari village, can be affected by landslides during the monsoon (July to September) and by snow in winter, so travel timings and the itinerary may change for safety. Chopta is at about 2,600 metres, Chandrashila reaches about 4,000 metres and Deoria Tal sits at about 2,400 metres, so carry warm layers, a waterproof jacket, sturdy trekking shoes, a torch, sunscreen and any personal medicines. Guests prone to motion sickness should carry medication for the winding mountain roads. Mobile networks and ATMs are limited in Chopta and Sari, so carry enough cash. The Tungnath and Chandrashila trek is moderate, the Deoria Tal trail is easier, and guests with knee, breathing or heart concerns should check with a doctor before booking. Camps and hotels in Chopta are basic, and electricity and hot water may be limited. Camping and entry rules at Deoria Tal are set by the forest department and may change. Cancellation terms, the payment schedule and the final inclusions will be shared in writing with your confirmed quotation.

Frequently asked questions

Frequently asked questions

Can this package be customised? Yes, request a quote with your dates, number of travellers and preferences.

Is the price fixed? No confirmed starting price has been provided; request a current quotation.

Are activities guaranteed? No. They depend on weather, season, permissions and the confirmed itinerary.

How long is the drive from Delhi to Chopta? It takes around 10 to 11 hours by road, depending on traffic and road conditions. We recommend an early start on Day 1 so you reach Chopta by evening.

Where does the pickup and drop happen in Delhi? The pickup and drop point is confirmed at the time of booking. Share your preferred area or metro station when requesting your quote.

What is the best time to visit Chopta? March to June and September to November are good for clear views and comfortable trekking. Winter (December to February) brings snow and a "mini Switzerland" look, but trails and roads may be affected.

How difficult are the treks? The Tungnath and Chandrashila trek is moderate, about 3.5 km one way to Tungnath, with roughly 1.5 km more to Chandrashila. The Deoria Tal trail is about 2.5 km each way and suits most fitness levels. No prior trekking experience is needed.

Is the package suitable for families and senior travellers? Yes, with planning. The long drive and altitude may be tiring, so the Tungnath trek can be done at a slower pace and Chandrashila can be skipped. Share ages and any health concerns when requesting your quote.

What should I pack? Pack thermals, a warm jacket, a waterproof layer, sturdy trekking shoes, gloves, a woollen cap, a torch, sunscreen, motion-sickness medicine if needed and any personal medicines.

Will I get mobile network and ATM access? Network is limited in Chopta and Sari, and ATMs are not reliable, so carry enough cash and let family know about patchy connectivity.
