How to Reach?

By Air: The best way to reach Kathmandu is by taking a flight from India. Tribhuvan International Airport in Kathmandu is only 6 km away from the city center. There are direct flights from Indian cities like Delhi and Kolkata that operate regularly and take approximately 1.5 hours to reach.

By Rail: There is only one direct train from India to Nepal, starting from Jainagar in Bihar to Janakpur in Nepal, and then further by road to Kathmandu. However, a more convenient option is to take a train to Gorakhpur or Raxaul, which are well connected to other major Indian cities, and then take a cab or bus to reach Kathmandu.

By Road: Nepal has six border crossings with India, making road travel an economical and scenic option to reach the country. For travelers coming from Delhi or Varanasi, the most convenient crossing point is Sunauli, near Bhairahawa, which has daily direct air-conditioned buses and private cars for hire. Another popular crossing is the Raxaul border, accessible from Patna, or Panitanki, accessible from West Bengal.
